French
French belongs to the Romance branch of the Indo-European language family and has a strong global presence, spoken on five continents. It is an official language in 29 countries and counts approximately 200 million speakers worldwide.
French holds the status of second official language in all major international organizations, including the United Nations, NATO, and UNESCO. Alongside English, it is one of the two working languages of the European Union and plays a key role in international diplomacy and cooperation.
Historically known as the language of diplomacy, French has left a significant mark on many other languages through loanwords. It remains the second most widely taught language in the world after English.
French is also regarded as the quintessential language of the humanities and culture. It spans a wide spectrum of cultural domains—literature, music, cinema, fashion, and gastronomy—making it not only useful but also deeply enriching to learn.
